The club’s annual Arthur Gryfe Dinner was held on May 27, 2026. We were delighted to welcome the medical students of the Health History Interest Group of the University of Toronto–Jayhan Kherani, Eliana Kagal, Mia Hubert and Matthew Cormie–along with their sponsors Dr Dan Petrescu and Dr Lucy Vorobej.

Members and guests of the club had the treat of hearing three lively and interesting papers by the students who had recently won several awards at the History of Medicine Days conference at the University of Calgary.

Mia Hubert presents “Beyond the Scalpel: Vera Peters and the Cultural Barriers to Breast-Conserving Therapy.”
Eliana Kagal presents “Climacteric Insanity: The Medicalization of Women’s Aging in Nineteenth Century Britain”
Jayhan Kherani presents “Girolamo Fracastoro”

Before dinner, we had a special viewing of a video of Dr Anthony Fauci’s address to the American Osler Society  “HIV/AIDS: Science, Policy, and a 45 Year Personal Journey,” given earlier in the month. You can watch Dr Fauci’s speech on Youtube.
